SYDNEY: News Limited has extended the responsibilities of News Magazines’ food group publisher Fiona Nilsson to brand development director of Taste.com.au.

Nilsson will be responsible for the development of a national strategy for Taste that will span News Limited’s print and online assets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in each state.

In addition new revenue and business growth opportunities will be investigated and developed.

News Limited group editorial director Campbell Reid said the appointment aimed to capitalise on the strength of the Taste brand with national initiatives to increase readership and advertising revenue for the Taste platform.

“This new role reflects the significant growth potential for News in the food category and for our Taste brand which, since its launch online in 2007 and subsequently as a print lift-out in 2009, has significantly exceeded our readership targets.”

Nilsson will be supported by Jeanie Edwards, who has been appointed project manager to coordinate the implementation of the new strategies across the company. Liz Baldwin continues in her role as News Magazines’ digital business manager responsible for the brand’s online development.

Nilsson joined News Magazines six years ago as marketing and circulation director and was appointed to the senior executive team when News Limited acquired the FPC magazine titles in 2006.

Nilsson adds the new role to her existing responsibilities as News Magazines’ food group publisher with responsibility for Delicious, Australian Good Taste, Super Food Ideas, Donna Hay Magazine, Vogue Entertaining + Travel, Taste.com.au and MasterChef Magazine which will launch later this year.
