Australian commercial free-to-air television network Seven Network is set to launch a new channel on 28 February.

In a trailer on TV last night the new film and entertainment channel gave a sneak peak at the offering by featuring snippets from shows such as Once Upon a Time, Seinfeld, Grey's Anatomy and Scandal – as well as kid's shows and romcom movies.

In a tweet it said: “Get excited! 7flix launches Sunday, Feb 28 - a new channel with the perfect mix #7flix #channel76.”

The move follows Channel Nine's launch of its new free-to-air lifestyle channel, 9Life, which it first announced at its upfronts last year.

Nine's offering is female-skewed and houses lifestyle and reality TV content, part of which is served through a content deal Nine made with lifestyle media network Scripps.

More to come.
