Absolut has been supporting the LGBTQ community since the early 1980s.

Get your glitter ready because the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is here and brands are getting involved with the rainbow-coloured action.

Qantas, Medibank, ANZ, Holden, Red Bull, Tinder, Google and Myer are all among the sponsors of this year’s festival, which celebrates how far Australia has come in accepting and embracing its LGBTQI communities, and what positive steps there are still to make.

Noticeably absent is Airbnb, which in the past has timed significant marketing campaigns around the Mardi Gras festival. This year, Accor Hotels is taking on the accomodation sponsorship.

Absolut Vodka and Vice have teamed up to empower young Australians to express their uniqueness on the dancefloor as part of Absolut's sponsorship of the Mardi Gras.

CUB has launched a pride-themed edition of its Yak craft beer range for the occasion. It will be available from a number of venues across Sydney this weekend including The Flinders, The Columbian, Gaslight Inn, Burdekin and Newtown's Bank Hotel.

Absolut has also created a range of limited edition rainbow coloured vodka bottles and cans.

ANZ has brought back its famous GAYTMs installed at branches in Oxford Street, Pitt Street, Newtown and Bondi Beach.

A well-known fixture of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, GAYTMs shake up their theme each year, with this year’s fleet covered in light reflecting rainbow prisms.

“We have a long and successful partnership with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, spanning 12 years as a major sponsor and participant, becoming principal partner in 2014," ANZ MD Mark Hand said.

Medibank has created social content starring transgender spokesperson and comedian Jordan Raskopoulos discussing her experiences.

Netflix has also posted video content on Twitter announcing that famous faces from the Orange is the New Black cast are coming Down Under to the Mardi Gras celebration.

Vodafone is taking a more editorial approach sharing various articles on what to expect at this year's big event:

Hair product company Wella Professionals is promoting its sponsorship position with various rainbow-coloured hairstyles:
