Telstra has handed Naked Communications its communications planning account without a pitch, replacing incumbent OMD.

Naked, which has worked with Telstra for four years, will now be responsible for all communications planning strategies at the company.

OMD retains Telstra’s media buying account, despite losing the communications planning business. The win significantly expands Naked's influence at the telco; it already handles communications planning for Telstra's BigPond brand and its youth marketing strategy.

The appointment, effective from 1 October, was made by Telstra general manager of agency services John Turner.

A Telstra spokeswoman confirmed the move: “Telstra has made a small adjustment in the portfolio of work between the two agencies that handle its media work, with Naked now handling more of the media strategy work.”
