SYDNEY: Emirates has appointed Barry Brown, former chief commercial officer of Oman Air, to the role of vice president in Australasia.

Brown will oversee the airline's commercial operations in both Australia and New Zealand, Emirates' third largest market. Brown replaces Stephen Pearse, who resigned in May.

He will report to Richard Jewsbury, Emirates's senior vice president, commercial operations, Far East and Australasia.

Brown said: “We have a lot happening over the next few months including the upgrade to the state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ERs on key routes and the Emirates Melbourne Cup."

Brown has more than 23 years experience in the industry and has previously worked for SriLankan Airlines and Hazelton Airlines.
