Anton Enus.
News presenter and journalist Anton Enus is retiring from SBS World News, presenting his final bulletin on September 11 after 26 years.
Born in South Africa, Enus joined SBS in 1999 after 15 years at the South African Broadcasting Corporation, where he covered the country's return to democracy in 1994.
He began at SBS in a casual newsroom role, making his presenting debut on the SBS Late News one month later and remaining in that role for eight and a half years before moving to SBS World News at 6.30pm in 2007. He returned as permanent weekend presenter in 2018 following extended personal leave in 2017.
"It seems extraordinary that the time has passed so quickly.” he said.
“It feels like just the other day that I walked into the newsroom for the first time, a newly arrived migrant from South Africa, looking for a job — any job.”
