SYDNEY: Publicis Mojo co-chairman & chief creative officer Craig Davis has been appointed chairman of AWARD.

Davis replaces outgoing chairman Richard Maddocks who resigned from the advertising awards body when he stepped down from his executive creative director role at Clemenger BBDO.

AWARD, The Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association, has also appointed DDB Melbourne executive creative director Grant Rutherford, in a bid to expand the body’s footprint outside of Sydney.

Davis and Rutherford will join AWARD co-chairman Michael Ritchie and Darryn Devlin on the Communications Council Board from tomorrow (20 May).

“Creativity has never been more important or relevant to enterprise. As an industry we are fundamentally here to solve problems,” Davis said.

The next full AWARD committee elections will take place in February 2011.
