BMB Media founder and principal Bernadette Boyd has retired after 49 years working in advertising and media.

Boyd, who started her independent agency in 2015, said the industry had kept her engaged throughout her career because it was "a challenge, interesting and never boring".

"Yes, there were incredible highs and lows but nothing beats the feeling of winning an account or delivering a successful campaign," Boyd said.

Before launching BMB Media, Boyd spent almost nine years as media director at The Holla Agency and a decade as director of Middleton and Boyd.

She also held senior media roles at AKA Media, Fitzgerald and Partners and Yared Perry Dimension.

Reflecting on her career, Boyd thanked the clients, colleagues and mentors she had worked with over the years, saying she was also proud to see many young people she had worked with build successful careers in the industry.

"I have worked with and met some amazing people," Boyd said.

"I have also had some amazing young people work with/for me. I am proud to see some of them go on to great things in the industry."

Although stepping away from the industry, Boyd said she would continue following media closely.

"I will never stop researching what is the next big thing in media,” she said.
