Time in current role/time at the company
As of writing this, I've been at EssenceMediacom for 4 years, 4 months, and 1 day.
How long have you been in the industry?
I've been in the industry for 1,582 days... which, get this is 4 years, 4 months, and 1 day!
How did you get here?
After wrapping up uni at the back end of Covid I did what any freshly free lockdown uni graduate would do. I went on a gap year - looked for a 9-5 on the LinkedIn jobs tab.
Was this always the plan?
Was a media agency the plan? No. After having studied biology and anthropology at uni the plan was to be doing something in those fields. But media called and I answered.
Who is your right-hand person/who guides you day to day?
I'm lucky that in my day-to-day I have two great directors I can go to in my team. Matt Leahy and Alyssa Rodrigo are truly mentors in and out of their craft.
What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
I genuinely love how nothing is static (ok, maybe your standard MREC is). Every year feels like a new TV season with new characters, campaigns, and plots. A definitive industry element.
And the biggest challenge?
Constant change in your job also means keeping up. So it's about finding the right balance between keeping pace and avoiding fatigue, and knowing when to push forward.
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
Any role where I can reply with just an “approved”.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
There's a handful of people you meet you see and go hey they're cool. So those people.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
I have recently made a 30 things to do before I turn 30 list. Enquire for the full list.
In five years' time I'll be:
Replying "Approved" to my next email.
