Brand Grab: Brand Sustainability

7 March 2011

We started Republic of Everyone because we really liked these two words.

It means the art of making sure a brand hangs around for a long time, the passion to find ways in which said brand can do more good than harm and the skill to make a difficult, complex and technical story really engaging and interesting.

More and more we find that clients are getting their heads around why sustainability is becoming a critical factor when they think about their brand.

First of all it just makes sense. Sustainable approaches to materials and resources really means getting more from less ergo increased productivity. A no brainer for any business with plans to hang around in the future.

Next it comes with some surprising added value. If you give back your customers love you. If you engage your employees in your actions your people love you. And if you use sustainability to innovate your products, services and channels to market your shareholders love you.

Third it gives you some amazing points of differentiation (when executed properly) and competitive advantage. What more can a brand ask for than being given some clear white space to operate in. When you get in to a virulent niche early you absolutely leave the pack behind too.

Finally everyone bangs on about leadersip but rarely show it. This is about demonstrating the ultimate leadership. And as we know the leaders win.
