EXCLUSIVE: Amalgamated Holdings Limited (AHL)-owned tourist destination Thredbo has hired Bondi Advertising GAD Angus Thomson as marketing head, reporting to former Virgin Australia marketing boss Michelle Lee in AHL's head office.
Michelle Lee started at AHL in February, joining as director of marketing and brands for AHL hotels and resorts. AHL owns Thredbo.
Thomson, who was placed by Hourigan International, started as Thredbo's lead marketer last week. He told AdNews the newly created role signifies an increased investment in the resort, with marketing and communications intended to be a key driver of growth.
Thomson also reports to Thredbo general manager Jordan Rodgers, who is also new to the role.
Thomson's official title is director of brand development for Thredbo, and he will oversee all marketing and sponsorship activity.
A new campaign, created by The Monkeys, is set to launch in coming days. Media buying has been handled in-house.
Michelle Lee was formerly the head of marketing for Virgin Australia. After her departure, she was replaced by former manager of group commercial and partnership marketing Michael Betteridge.
She started at AHL earlier in the year, but has been operating under the radar.
