Telstra's Olympics push just days away

As Australia gears up for the world's largest sporting event, Telstra is preparing for a multi-million Olympics push created by DDB, set to launch in coming days.

While the company has remained tight-lipped about the launch of the assault, industry insiders have told AdNews the campaign launch is imminent.

Pundits have suggested the campaign will not only spruik Telstra's status as sponsor, but will also push Telstra's mobile coverage of the event while promoting associated Telstra products.

The campaign has been created by ad agency DDB. The company's media agency is OMD.

Nine Entertainment Co's group sales and marketing boss Peter Wiltshire would not confirm any details relating to Telstra and its sponsorship of the games, which will be broadcast on Nine.

However, he said: “All sponsorship deals have been sold, and now we are just looking from a spot point of view. Now is the time when most advertisers would be looking at their July and August plans anyway, and the Olympics are obviously a key pillar, so things are really looking up.”
