Australian comedy website Rated Comedy has teamed up with advertising and strategic partner Urban Geek in a step toward commercialising comedy content online.

The site was founded by former Paramount Pictures head of marketing Darrin Parker and AFI nominated film producer Ranko Markovic who are creating innovative ways to commercialise comedy content online.

Parker said: “The core concept behind RatedComedy is two pronged. To make it simple for audiences to find comedy content from a broad array of sources and to provide a platform for emerging artists to gain exposure.”

The site has already attracted advertising from the film studios Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Markovic plans to expand the current advertising model which offers skins, banners MRECS and leaderboards, to other commercial opportunities which include syndication  with content delivery devices from handhelds, tablets and more.

Rated Comedy also offers advertisers the service of originally produced branded comedy content for their brands or products, produced by Rated Comedy's top team of writers and talent.

The comedy site has established a strong social media presence with more than 7000 Facebook friends and 42000 Twitter followers. It has developed a stable of artists including Cookin Peaches, Crazy Nick, Paul Ayre and The Nichols Twins.
