Network Ten is continuing to develop its news and current affairs strategy, as it appoints its own Kathryn Robinson and meteorologist Magdalena Roze to its Breakfast show.
The pair will join confirmed hosts Paul Henry, the controversial New Zealand broadcaster, and local Andrew Rochford.
Henry's former boss at Television New Zealand and newly-appointed Network Ten head of news and current affairs Anthony Flannery, said: “The chemistry between these four personalities is exactly what we are after for Breakfast. It was obvious from the beginning of auditions that they have a dynamic with a difference; unpredictable but the perfect start to the day.”
The move is the latest addition to Ten’s news and current affairs strategy, which has seen a great deal of change over the past year.
Newly installed chief James Warburton has recently reset the network’s news programming, axing its 90 minute bulletuin and shifting The Project to an earlier timeslot. This came only months after the previous reshuffle.
Last year, the network extended The Project from a 30-minute program to a one-hour show, after axing 6:30 with George Negus, among other changes.
Industry pundits have expressed concern with the constant shuffle and change of Ten's news and current affairs strategy, however the appointment of Warburton will most likely see a settling of this strategy.
