News Ltd revamps sales structure

News Limited has restructured its sales division with the formation of News Australia – Sales and appointed News Digital Media commercial director Tony Prentice as chief commercial officer.

The new body will combine commercial operations for News Limited's newspaper, newspaper inserted magazines (NIM) and digital platforms under one umbrella. NewsLifeMedia, the magazine arm of the media conglomerate, will remain separate except for NIMs.

News Limited director of sales, Tony Kendall, said: "The creation of News Australia –Sales, will mean a better outcome for our national clients and customers, who will be offered audience-led solution across print, online, tablet and mobile and will have a single point of contact toreach the depth and breadth of our audience.

"In addition, we aremaking a substantial investment in insights, research and strategy to equip our sales professionals with the ability to help our customers meet their demands in this challenging market."

Prentice will oversee the new operation and will report to News Limited's deputy directorof sales Fiorella Di Santo. He joined News Digital Media in 2008 and is the current chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Prentice said: "Bringing our commercial teams together will create a force much greater than the sum of its parts, and will serve our national clients and customers need better than we have done before and, we believe, bether than anyone else can."
