HWT appoints publisher, major events and partnerships position
The Herald and Weekly Times has appointed Herald Sun head of sport Ondrej Foltin to the newly created role of publisher, major events and partnerships. Foltin will be responsible for planning editorial coverage of Victoria’s major events across HWT publications – including the Herald Sun, Sunday Herald Sun, mX, The Weekly Times and associated digital platforms. HWT has strategic relationships with more than 50 major events and organisations in Victoria.

Orchard appoints creative director
Digital agency Orchard has appointed Make creative director Nitin Mistry as the agency's creative director. Mistry will work on clients including Electrolux, Pfizer, Nivea and Equal.

Bohemia expands client list
Only three months after launch, STW-owned agency Bohemia has won a raft of new clients, including sofa brand Plush, American express GNS and Chamberlain. The agency adds these wins to its existing clients, including Open Colleges, Chubb Securities, and Switzer Financial Services.

Cannes Lions launches Young Lions Design Comp
Cannes Lions has added a Young Lions design Competition to the 2012 International Festival of Creativity, taking place 17-23 June. The competition will see teams of two briefed to work on a brand identity project.

Lexus adds DAB+ digital radio as standard
Automotive brand Lexus has added DAB+ as a standard feature. The new Lexus GS range will feature DAB+ as part of its audio and navigation system. Digital radio is now available in the Toyota Camry Atara SL and the Hino 300, 500 and 700 series trucks, as well as in a number of Audi and BMW models.

Effies call for entries
The Communications Council has opened entries to the 2012 Australian Effie Awards with a launch in Sydney last night. There are two new categories this year: Short Term Effects and Transformational Digital Business Platform. Entries close 4 May 2012.

Take a dive in The Deep End with JWT
JWT Sydney has opened applications for its three-month internship program, The Deep End. The program will offer two young creatives experience within the creative department and a monthly retainer. Previous participants include 2011 Caxton Cadets winners Julia Spencer and Delia Mennell who scored permanent roles in the agency.

TED to hold auditions
TED will hold auditions for its global talent search, TED Worldwide Auditions, in Sydney on 27 May after TEDxSydney, to be held at Carriageworks. Successful applicants may join the line-up for TED2013 at Longbeach, California.

MailOnline takes number one spot
UK news website, MailOnline, has overtaken the New York Times website as the most visited English-language news site, according to ComScore's December data. The change follows New York Times' move to a paywall model last year. MailOnline claims 2.4 million Australian users every month and established a sales office in Sydney last year.
