NBN Co recruits digital and social media manager

NBN Co has appointed former Microsoft head of corporate communications Cathy Jamieson as group manager of public information and social media.

Jamieson will manage NBN Co's public information and education campaign and oversee the NBN's digital and social media strategy. A spokesperson for NBN Co confirmed the appointment and said Jamieson started the role three weeks ago.

She joins with a background in public relations, most recently after over five years at Microsoft Australia where she was head of corporate communications. Prior to the technology giant, Jamieson was at Recognition PR for seven years.

Two weeks ago, AdNews exclusively revealed the appointment of Telecom New Zealand chief marketing officer Kieran Cooney as NBN Co chief communications officer. Cooney will have a wide-ranging remit and oversee government relations, PR, corporate communications and marketing for the company.

Cooney will start the role in November and will be looking to appoint agency partners.

Today, Senator Stephen Conroy announced Bunya Estate in Sydney' west will be the first housing development to have access to the NBN.
