Outgoing Magazine Publishers CEO Robin Parkes is set to join Telstra’s corporate marketing team as the search for her replacement is in full swing.

Telstra’s corporate marketing director Inese Kingsmill confirmed Parkes’ appointment to AdNews today.

“Yes, Robin is joining my team. We’re thrilled to have her,” Kingsmill said.

Parkes joins as general manager, operations and planning, on a contracted period which runs until year’s end.

Before running the MPA, Parkes was CEO of Freeview and before that in adland with Ogilvy.

Telstra has just launched its latest marketing effort as part of its business-wide overhaul with the “connected future” strategy.

“When we launched the brand in 2011 it was a signal of disruption in the market,” Kingsmill said. “It’s served us very well. We’re very clear about our purpose, which is to create a brilliant connected future for everyone. Our focus is on getting things right for customers more and more often.”

She said Parkes role was to ensure “everything that needs to be done is done” in the corporate marketing team.

Bauer Magazines CEO and MPA chairman Matthew Stanton is running through candidates for the MPA role and an appointment is expected by the end of February when Parkes leaves to join Telstra.

“We’ve had a lot of applicants,” Parkes said. “Matt’s going through the process now so by the end of the month we’re hoping to have an announcement.”
