George Patterson Y&R Melbourne has lost another staff member with Luc Wiesman set to be head of digital at Leo Burnett Melbourne.
Wiesman joins after three-and-a-half years at GPY&R, where he was most recently head of digital strategy. He has previously worked at Sportal, Pixel Group and Grey.
He replaces John Bright who left to take up a position at Whybin TBWA Tequila in September 2011. He will work across clients including Seek, 7-Eleven, Nintendo, Giant and General Mills.
Wiesman is the second departure from GPY&R announced in as many weeks, with group account director Michael Napolitano joining Whybin to oversee the Nissan account. In May, GPY&R client services director Mark Watkin became managing director of Whybin's Melbourne office.
Late last year, GPY&R hired Mark Addy has digital creative director.
Leo Burnett Melbourne chief executive, Melinda Geertz, said: “Luc will definitely add fire power. He's a talented guy with a wealth of expertise and a genuine respect for creativity and ideas. He's a rare breed and we're delighted he's here.”
Leo Burnett Melbourne executive creative director, Jason Williams, said: “I felt dubious about hiring a redhead, but we know Luc's got great digital expertise. Most importantly, he understands the importance of ideas and technology working together.”
