Hino trucks adopt digital radio

Hino has become the first car manufacturer in Australia to include DAB+ digital radio as standard equipment across its range of vehicles.

Hino Australia manufactures light, medium and heavy trucks used across the building, landscaping and logistics industries. The announcement follows similar moves by BMW and Audi, which announced DAB+ as an option earlier in the year. However, Hino is the first manufacturer to include it as standard.

All Hino 300, 500 and 700 series trucks manufactured from September 2011 onwards will feature the Australian-designed multimedia unit which includes DAB+.

Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner said: “Hino is leading the automotive industry by including digital radio as standard and we are very pleased Hino truck drivers, who spend a great deal of time in their vehicles will now be able to experience digital radio.”

DAB+ digital radio is available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, with low power trials being conducted in Canberra and Darwin.
