Mediabrands-owned agency UM has once again retained the $150 million Federal Government master media account.

The Federal Government has extended the media account for a further two years.

The agency has held the account since 2002. It was reappointed to the account in 2009 for a period of three years, following a pitch against MediaCom, Mitchell & Partners and Carat.

UM chief executive Mat Baxter said, “We will continue to perform at the highest levels and deliver superior outcomes in our tasks ahead for the Australian Government.”

The agency will now hold onto the account until 2014.

The Commonwealth Government's main media spend in the 12 months to October 2011 was $147.8 million, up from $120.5 million, according to Nielsen.
