Clothing chain H&M has launched a new campaign starring David Beckham. Stripped to his underwear, the footballer hightails through LA in pursuit of his bathrobe.

The slapstick caper begins with Beckham waving goodbye to his three sons in a car, only with his bathrobe to become stuck in the door. Finding himself locked out in just a tight pair of khaki briefs and slippers, his only option is to chase after the speeding car. Vaulting through neighbours' gardens and pools he eventually ends up in the middle of the road, confronted by a bus load of photo-taking tourists.

The commercial is for the international retailer's Spring 2013 Bodywear collection, and was directed by Guy Ritchie in collaboration with American art director Marc Atlan. The stills were shot by Australian photographer Nick Hudson.

The spot has gained over 300,000 hits on H&M's YouTube channel and over 27, 240 likes on Beckham's Facebook page.

Beckham also answered questions from fans via the brand's Twitter page yesterday. Prior to its launch, the footballer posted teaser photos and footage on Facebook with the caption 'More to come this week...".

He has been the face of H&M's Bodywear collection since February 2011, fronting a series of other television spots.
