The 2012 Webby Awards' 10,000 entries have been culled to a list of official honourees, with DDB Group Melbourne leading the Australian charge with three mentions.
Two projects from DDB Group Melbourne are on the list of official honourees, with its 'Open Book' campaign for the Open Book Project listed in two categories in the Interactive Advertising awards: Integrated Campaigns and Corporate Social Responsibility. The agency's 'JeansWest iDenim Match' app for JeansWest is honour listed in the Lifestyle (tablet and all other devices) category in the Mobile awards.
DDB Sydney has also been honoured, with its 'Touareg - Fall in Luxury' project for Volkswagen Australia listed in the Best Use of Video or Moving Image category of the websites awards. Its 'Making Tracks' project featuring the YouTube Symphony Orchestra is listed in the travel and adventure category of the online film & video awards.
303Lowe's 'Enjoy the Ride' project for the WA state government's Office of Road Safety has been listed for both the Integrated Advertising and Website awards, in the Integrated Campaign and Government categories respectively.
Deepend's website for Maurice Blackburn Lawyers has been honour listed in the Law category of the Websites awards, as has its alcohol-awareness 'Championship Moves' site in the Government category.
Other Australian honourees for the Website awards are Leo Burnett's 'Census Spotlight' website for the Australian Bureau of Statistics in the Government category, and BWM's 'Target Nuclear Weapons' website for Red Cross Australia in the Charitable Organisations/Non-Profit category. Sydney agency Design Royale is also on the list for its work on ratings website Drumo, which is honoured in the Guides/Rating/Reviews category in the Website awards.
BlueArc Group has two of its projects honour listed in the Associations category of the Websites awards: its website for the Australian Institute of Company Directors and its site for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Canvas Group has also been honour listed in the Consumer Electronics category for its Panasonic website, as has Circul8 in the Fashion category for its 'Find Fashion By Feelings' website for the Woolmark Company.
'Making Australia Happy', a joint project between The Project Factory and the CSIRO for ABC1, is also on the honours list for the Website Awards, in the Television category. Reborn's website for South African Tourism, 'Leave Ordinary Behind', was honour-listed in the Tourism category, and Soap Creative's 'World's Biggest PAC-MAN' was honour-listed in the Game or Application category.
The Pedigree 'Dog-A-Like' campaign from Whybin TBWA Tequila has been listed in two categories for the Mobile & Apps awards: Best Use of Device Camera and Integrated Mobile Experience. SapientNitro has also made the honourees list for the Interactive Advertising awards for its 'Footlocker Art Prize' project for Foot Locker in the Corporate Social Responsibility category. The Monkeys' 'Great Indoors' campaign for Ikea is an honouree in the Online Guerilla and Innovation category of the Interactive Advertising awards.
The Commonwealth Bank also received a mention on the honours list for its 'Commbank Kaching' app in the Utilities and Services (Handheld Devices) category in the Mobile awards.
The official honourees represent the top 15% of entries. The nominees list, also recently released, features Australian agencies Arnold Furnace Sydney, Whybin TWBA Tequila, Reactive and George Patterson Y&R, as well as SBS.
The winners will be announced 26 May.
