For the first time, AdNews is ranking media companies by awards won.
How the rankings and points system work
Part 1 of the ranking is for Representation. Points are allocated for five different awards that recognise the company as a whole as perceived by the advertising industry:
Representation points
- AdNews Media Benchmark Study (top media brand and top company) - first place 80, second or third 60, fourth or fifth 40
- B&T Awards (sales team, media brand) – winner 50, finalist 30
- Media Federation Awards (media owner of the year) – winner 80, finalist 50
- Media i (sales awards) – national team 50, state team 30, state individual 20
- Mumbrella Awards (sales team of the year, media brand) – winner 50, shortlist 30
Part 2 recognises awards for Work in eight different awards programs:

- AIMIA Awards – award 50, highly commended 30, finalist 25
- Australian Magazine Awards – magazine of the year 80, award 50, finalist 25
- Commercial Radio Awards – award 50
- Logie Awards – gold 100, silver 50, nominee 25
- Media Federation Awards (Partnership award) – winner 100, finalist 50
- Newspaper of the Year Awards – newspaper of the year award 50, other award 25
- Walkley Awards – gold 100, award 50, finalist 25
