Qantas head of group brand Tim McColl Jones is leaving the airline to relocate back to Melbourne.

McColl Jones, who is executive manager of group brand and marketing at the airline, has been in the role since November last year.

He was hired by group executive of brand, marketing and corporate affairs at Qantas, Olivia Wirth, six months after she took the top job and subsequently restructured the marketing division.

He was previously a director at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and also spent time at Publicis Mojo and M&C Saatchi as well as heading up his own consultancy.

McColl Jones played a key role in the recent Feels Like Home campaign.

An internal memo from Wirth was sent to staff this morning. It stated:

"I write to advise you that Tim McColl Jones has decided to leave Qantas so he can relocate back to Melbourne and spend more time with his family.

While at Qantas, Tim has lead his team on a number of projects in a difficult and challenging period for our business including the “Its About” campaign, the sponsorship of The Voice the recent ‘Feels like Home’ campaign. He leaves with our thanks for his work and we wish him all the best for the future.

We will announce a replacement for this role shortly, however in the interim, Tim’s direct reports will report directly to me."
