Annabelle Gigliotti: Head of entertainment, Organic Pacific (Havas)

Time in current role/time at the company:
We launched the Australian arm of internationally renowned entertainment comms agency Organic 9 months ago now, which is apt because it feels like my baby.

How would you describe what the company does?.
We provide specialist PR, social and marketing strategy services to the entertainment industry.

What do you do day-to-day?
Watch great movies, stream incredible tv and collaborate with inspiring creatives to bring their visions to the biggest possible audiences.

Define your job in one word:
Entertaining.

I got into marketing because:
To give a strategic structure to my crazy ideas.

What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role?
Getting through all the content that “you MUST watch”.

What’s the biggest industry-wide challenge you’d like to see tackled?
An old-world approach to entertainment marketing that often ignores the wealth of new tactics and opportunities available for connecting with content consumers.

Notable campaigns you have worked on:
Every day in entertainment is different but for various reasons I loved the campaigns for The Dry with Eric Bana, Shining Girls with Elisabeth Moss, Fifteen with Jamie Oliver, Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez, The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, and Birds of Prey with Margot Robbie.

Who has been a great mentor to you and why?
Simone Gupta, my CEO at Havas. We have worked together at four different companies over the past 15 years and even on the busiest and hardest days we always manage a laugh.

Words of advice for someone wanting a job like yours?
Absolutely try for a role in entertainment, the arts may not always draw the highest salaries but it’s the most fun you can possibly have and still call it work.

If I wasn't doing this for a living, I'd be:
Watching the same amount of film and tv for free.

My mantra is:
Always watch with Spanish subtitles.

My favourite advert is:
My favourite ads are always trailers. I get very upset if I get to the cinema after the trailers have started.

Music and TV streaming habits. What do you subscribe to?
Literally everything. If there is something to stream, I am subscribed and engaged. Apple TV+. Spotify. Netflix. 10 Play. Audible. Binge. Stan. Prime Video. 9now. Apple Music. Wondery. Disney+. ABC iview.

I spend a LOT of time-consuming film, tv and podcasts.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
That I make really great empanadas.

In five years' time I'll be:
Fluent in Spanish. From the subtitles.
