Today Network eyes top spot with Hamish and Andy

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee are set to return to SCA in 2013 with a new morning show.

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) could swell its ratings next year with a new morning show headed by advertiser and fan favourites, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee.

The pair will broadcast a new hour-long morning show in 2013 from 9am Tuesdays to Fridays. It will run across the entire Today Network and follow the network's high-rating Kyle and Jackie O Breakfast show.

Blake and Lee will also change their 4-6pm Friday show to the same time slot on Mondays, with fellow broadcasters Fifi Box and Jules Lund set to feature from Tuesday to Friday afternoons.

Blake and Lee are known for their light-hearted, humorous content and are a stark contrast to the network's infamous broadcaster Kyle Sandilands, who caused an advertiser exodus for SCA in late 2011 when he referred to a News Limited journalist as a "fat slag".

The irreverent pair cut their air time in 2010 to once a week rather than every week day to pursue other ventures, including their high-rating television programs such as Caravan of Courage and Euro Gap Year.

Southern Cross Austereo suffered a loss of ratings in early 2011 after the departure of the duo, but has since managed to regain pole position with its Kyle and Jackie O Breakfast show, despite prior controversy.

Southern Cross Austereo head of content Craig Bruce said: "We're really excited about 2013. The Today Network line-up is going to be our best ever filled with Australian radio's biggest stars and hottest shows."
