EXCLUSIVE: Optus head of digital marketing, sales and service Kerry Morrison has suddenly left the position, after only a few months in the role.

While Optus has confirmed the departure, the company would not comment on the reasons for Morrison's sudden departure.

One industry source close to the process said Morrison was a polarising figure within the Optus marketing department.

Morrison was hired by Optus in August 2011, just six months ago, as revealed exclusively by AdNews. She had come to Optus from group buying site Cudo, where she was marketing and sales director for just seven months.

She was previously general manager, marketing communications at Vodafone Hutchison Australia for two years, leaving the telco at the end of 2010. She worked for Hutchison for six years before the company was merged with Vodafone.

Morrison also worked for Optus between 2002 and 2003.

In terms of finding a replacement, Optus said it is currently reviewing its requirement in this area.
