The impressive numbers keep rolling in for Nine with The Voice maintaining its dominant position with Tuesday's episode still rating well above 2 million viewers.
On the show's third outing, The Voice scored 2.37 million metro viewers, according to preliminary overnight figures from OzTam. Over the three nights, the talent competition program has averaged 2.36 million people.
Such is the popularity of the show, digital engagement with The Voice is going gangbusters on its website. The official site, hosted on Ninemsn, has seen more 1.7 million video streams in 72 hours while the Twitter hashtag for the show has also been used in over 50,000 tweets.
Ninemsn head of TV and video, Ben Watts, said: “This social and online buzz is unlike anything we've seen before. The format of the show is perfectly suited to deliver short form video content and we've designed the site to blend video and social, to facilitate online conversation around every episode.”
In contrast, Seven's Australia's Got Talent slipped below the million mark in its second episode for the year. Yesterday, the show was watched by 980,000 people and was in ninth spot on the ratings ladder as it directly competed against The Voice. The usually reliable Packed to the Rafters was also hampered by Nine's programming boom as the homegrown drama managed to take seventh place with 1.12 million. The series normally rates in the 1.4 million to 1.7 million range.
Nine's The Big Bang Theory was the second highest ranked program for the evening with 1.50 million viewers while The Block was watched by 1.30 million people.
Tonight, Nine will debut its third programming flank, a new season of Celebrity Apprentice.
Ten failed to crack the top 10 programs list with The Biggest Loser managing a 13th position with 761,000 viewers.
Across the main channels, Nine is well on its way to win the ratings week with 32.4% of audience share last night. Seven was second on 20.8%, followed by 12.6%, the ABC with 10.0% and SBS with 4.8%.
