Some of the biggest names in the media sector from News Corp, Seven West Media, Foxtel, Disney, REA and Fairfax Media will eye each other off at PwC’s Entertainment & Media Outlook briefing tomorrow in Sydney.

The firm’s global media partner Marcel Fenez will headline the briefing, followed by a panel with Fenez, Nova Entertainment’s CEO Cathy O’Connor and outspoken former Nestle CMO David Morgan. AdNews editor in chief Paul McIntyre will moderate the panel.

Some of the key findings in PwC's latest forecasts for the Australian and global media and entertainment industries are that advertising growth will remain sluggish for the forecast period to 2018 (3.1% compound annual growth rate) as brand owners shift advertising and marketing funds to content creation across their own digital and offline channels.

Online video advertising, however, is one of the boom categories in which PwC forecasts a 36% rise to $718 million in Australia by 2018. PwC will detail key trends and its revised take on the value chain in the entertainment and media sectors. The forum is at capacity but to watch the live webcast on Friday at 3.30pm, register at on the PwC website.
