Kyle Sandilands returns with traffic light censoring

EXCLUSIVE: Controversial radio host Kyle Sandilands has returned to the air today with a strict censorship policy based on traffic light technology.

In an attempt to appease sponsors and advertisers after a mass exodus last year, Southern Cross Austereo has implemented a system of red, amber and green lights which are aimed at reigning in Sandilands’ comments.

At the end of last year, the radio host attacked a News Limited journalist on air, calling her a “fat slag” and threatening to hunt her down. This led to dozens of advertisers removing their support, including the Federal Government, American Express, Ford, Holden, Myer, Target, Telstra, Vodafone and others.

As a result, a stricter censorship policy has been put in place. AdNews understands Sandilands has been in continued talks with Southern Cross Austereo regarding his on-air behaviour.

Meanwhile, weight loss company Jenny Craig was a new sponsor for the Kyle & Jackie O Show this morning, making it the first company to support the show since the advertiser backlash last year. The deal was apparently inked before the Sandilands controversy.
