BWM has made eight redundancies to its 120-strong team, on the back of being removed from Telstra's agency roster.
The redundancies were flagged by AdNews at the end of May, when BWM chief executive Paul williams said redundancies would occur, but did not confirm how many.
BWM general manager Simon Hadfield said: "This is a difficult move for us to make but a necessary one with the changing of the Telstra agency roster. Our growth in revenue – both organic and from new business like Selleys and MyPlates in Sydney and Kmart in Melbourne – has enabled us to keep the retrenchments at a minimum, however any retrenchments are unwelcome."
BWM's eight year relationship with Telstra was terminated at the end of May. During its time with Telstra, the agency worked on Telstra's BigPond and NextG brands, creating iconic work such as the "Rabbits" campaign.
A statement from the Photon Group to the ASX in May said the business was worth between $10 million and $15 million in net revenue for the agency. The agency's official contract ends 31 July.
