DDB's Charles Rallings departs

Charles Rallings has left DDB after five years.

DDB Group Sydney chief operating officer and Tribal managing director Charles Rallings has left after five years with the agency.

Rallings has taken up a vice president digital post at global promotions agency Creata. A replacement will be announced within weeks.

He joined DDB in 2008 from BWM as managing director of Tribal DDB, the group's digital arm. He chief operating officer to his duties in 2010 and was temporarily head of Rapp in the year following Jeff Saunder's exit.

DDB Australia chief executive Chris Brown said: “It's sad to see Charles leave as he has been a key partner of mine for the past five years, helping pace digital thinking at the heart of our business, a passion he has implemented with great success. We wish him every success at his next role with Creata.

“This change provides us with an opportunity to take our transformation to the next level. We will be announcing the new MD of Tribal Sydney within the next few weeks with the focus on moving the discussions more upstream with CMOs and CIOs around business transformation through digital and technology.”

Brown added the group wants to increase its investment and diversify its skill-sets.

The group has promoted Matt Melik to managing partner. Melik has been with DDB for four years and has been working across digital marketing effectiveness.

Melik said: “I am very excited about helping shape the direction of our business moving forward. I am a passionate evangelist of innovation in strategy and content and love working at the intersection between CIOs, CMOs and with the creative technology industry."

Last month, AdNews revealed DDB had hired former Digital Arts Network general manager Cecile Ferre as digital director on the agency's Telstra business.
