SYDNEY: Campari Australia, the local arm of Italian liquor company Gruppo Campari, has made a raft of senior marketing appointments ahead of its official Australian launch on 1 April.
Scott Duncombe comes on board from Pernod Ricard to take charge of marketing for the group's flagship brand Wild Turkey Bourbon, while ex-Maxxium and Fosters marketer Clare Dunstan will be responsible for the wine brands Riccardonna and Cinzano.
Former Sara Lee group brand manager Nick Maglis joins Campari as marketing manager for the spirits portfolio, which includes brands Skyy Vodka, Campari, Ouzo 12 and Aperol and national trade marketing manager Liam Murphy joins Campari from Constellation Wines.
"It's a fairly tight team to take responsiblility for the main areas of the business," said head of marketing for Campari Australia Brad Timbrell.
As revealed in AdNews late last year, (20 November 2009) Campari is due to officially launch in Australia on 1 April however Wild Turkey will not move over from its current distributor, Pernod Ricard until July. Campari is yet to make any agency appointments, but Timbrell confirmed the company was in the early stages of looking at forward marketing activity.
"We are going through the process of looking at our marketing plan towards April," he said, "but in terms of our agency and media plans, we probably won't be making any decisions until April/May."
"We'll be starting marketing activity from 1 April, but we will be getting a lot more into it when Wild Turkey comes on board".
