i7 partners up for web offering

By AdNews | 22 September 2000
Ramping up its online activities, the Seven Network has announced a cluster of web sites known as i7 and a host of Internet-based partnerships and holdings locally and overseas. An advertising campaign by Leo Burnett for the sites began recently, primarily using TVCs, and i7 will be publicised in other ways by its partner companies. The tagline for the promotion is ÒI can on i7Ó, and i7Õs partners will feature this at the top of their web sites. ÒRather than adopt a portal strategy, we have decided to go with a niche strategy,Ó says i7 director of corporate development, Simon Francis. This strategy incorporates partnerships with existing sites and networks as well as unique i7 sites. Areas covered by i7 include entertainment, sports and news as well as online consumer services like email, chat, a search engine, and e-commerce facilities. Channel 7 programs have their own sites, such as Harryspractice.i7.com.au. The i7 Network is licensing technology, content and services from NBCi in the US, and has a joint venture with Ticketmaster in the US, known as Ticketmaster7, which allows visitors to buy tickets to major events over the Internet. Other associates include the Australian Olympic Committee, Womenzone, Digital One, My Money, RushTV, B Digital, the AFL, plus online dating and employment services. Kris Ashton
