Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has confirmed that Sam Frost will co-host Sydney breakfast on 2DayFM, alongside television personality Rove McManus.

Rather than starting 2016 fresh, the duo will start their new roles on Monday 9 November. It follows the departure of former Sydney breakfast hosts Dan & Maz last week.

In a statement Frost said: “I’m so excited to be joining Rove on 2DayFM. He already makes me laugh so much, and is probably the only man, other than Sash, that I’m willing to get out of bed at 4am for.”

Speaking to AdNews earlier this month following the announcement that Rove would be taking up the role, SCA chief content officer Guy Dobson said the aim is to “create a great environment for advertisers from day one”.

He also noted that despite Rove being older than 2DayFM's core demographic, the new team - hot on the heels of Hamish and Andy’s drive show starting in July - completed a strategy shift for the network.

“We are not changing our demographic, our music is right, we've shifted to a bit older here and we’ve broadened our format,” Dobson said.
