What's going on at Leo Burnett?

What's going on a Leo Burnett? There's market speculation that the agency is laying off around 20 senior level execs, in the wake of a number of new business wins inlcuding Woolworths.

Several industry sources have commented that Leo Burnett is having a tough time, and the moves are also believed to follow a swathe of layoffs at a junior level last week.

The cuts are thought to affect agency staff from across art, broadcast and copy. Bill Doig, executive producer of TV and content who was appointed in May last year and joined from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, senior art director Nathan Moore and copywriter Mark Wilkinson are among those who have left the agency.

It's not known the reason behind the alleged job cuts but market speculation is that the Woolworths account and recent moves to take on a media strategy role for clients including Diageo, is putting pressure on the agency.

There is also speculation around potential restructure of management at a senior level.

Pete Bosilkovski, recently promoted to MD of Leo Burnett Sydney, moved to quash the speculation of 20 redundancies, telling AdNews that the agency is in a period of growth after new business wins, and that its staffing has and will always evolve as its clients' needs change.
