Wavemaker strengthens search offering with new national roles

Wavemaker Australia has boosted its digital and precision marketing capabilities with two promotions, including the creation of a new role with an eCommerce focus.

Jonathan Orchard has been promoted from search director to the new job of national head of SEM and eCommerce.

Orchard will tasked with developing Wavemaker's SEM product, structuring a national network of SEM resource and shared best practice, and leading eCommerce conversations with clients.

He has more than 10 years digital marketing experience in the UK and Australia with expertiese in new technologies, search, customer acquisition and retention.

Before joining Wavemaker in January 2018, Orchard was a digital marketing consultant at Magnifii Digital.

Wavemaker has also promoted Jake Whitten from SEO and CRO director to a broader role as national head of SEO and CRO.

Whitten's expertise lies in search engine optimisation, conversion rate optimisation and analytics with a background in web development.

He has also worked at MEC London and Manchester before relocating to Brisbane.

"Their promotions and the creation of Jonathan’s new role as national head of SEM and eCommerce are an important part of Wavemaker’s commitment to being at the forefront of the shift to precision marketing that many of our clients are making," Wavemaker chief growth and product officer James Hier says. 

Recently, Wavemaker Australia also promoted Philippa Noilea-Tani to the role of national head of investment, charged with leading the agency’s trading and investment strategy across all four Wavemaker offices.

The agency was reappointed earlier in the year to the media panel for the South Australian Government, with Carat and Reprise also joining the account, worth roughly $36.4 million.

Wavemaker is part of GroupM which is part holding group WPP AUNZ.
