Volkswagen down to three as pitching wraps up

Volkswagen has completed the pitch process for its creative account, with the agencies narrowed to three, AdNews understands.

Host, Droga5 and incumbent DDB Sydney are understood to all still be in the running. While pitching for the account has wrapped up it is unclear if a decision on who will win the business will be made before the close of the year.

It is also unclear whether the account will be serviced by one agency, or split, with the suggestion that Volkswagen may be looking at having different agencies looking after its core brand, commercial business and its Skoda brand separately.

Globally, VW's account is held by DDB in a long-running relationship which has spanned nearly 60 years. But speculation that the account could move as a result of the pitch was fuelled by VW New Zealand moving from DDB to Colenso earlier this year.

All agencies declined to comment or could not be reached in time for deadline. AdNews is still awaiting a response from Volkswagen.
