Virgin Blue has appointed Hans Hulsbosch, the designer who rebadged Qantas, as its creative director to oversee a transformation of the airline's brand.

Hulsbosch will redesign the group’s livery and corporate identity across Virgin Blue, V Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue.

He previously worked with Borghetti on the redesign of the Qantas logo and the agency, Hulsbosch, has recently completed the redesign of the Woolworths brand.

Virgin Blue chief executive officer, John Borghetti, said: "Master designer, Hans Hulsbosch, and his brilliant team had more than 20 years experience in brand, corporate and product identity with some of Australia’s best known and loved brands."

In July, Virgin announced a review of its $50 million creative arrangements. V Australia incumbent creative agency, Droga5, said it would not participate in the review. Four agencies are still battling it out - Virgin Blue incumbent SapientNitro, Clemenger Group, DDB and BMF.
