VicRoads, Victoria's highway department, has appointed 33 agencies to its first marketing services panel after a tender process in January saw more than 60 agencies apply.

The contracts have been awarded across a number of areas, with BoilerRoom, Whybin TBWA, Marmalade Melbourne, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and George Patterson Y&R on the large communication campaigns panel.

Agencies on the communications strategy and planning panel include Haystac, and Mendleson Communications, while Bullseye, Panalysis and Parisfirst Partners have been rostered for online media.

Previously, VicRoads picked agencies for campaigns from the Victorian Government’s own roster of approved suppliers. VicRoads is a statutory body that operates separately from the state government but is accountable to ministers.

VicRoads spent $3.6 million on main media in the 12 months to October 2009, up from $3.4 million in the previous corresponding period, according to Nielsen.
