VB free if Aussies win Ashes

Beer brand VB will "Shout the Nation" a free drink if the Australian cricket team wins the Ashes from England as part of an ambitious Foster's promotion.

A sponsor of the team, VB has paired with News Limited to offer readers a free 375ml stubby or can of beer as part of the 'Shout the Nation' campaign.

If Australia wins the Ashes, VB will publish a voucher in The Herald Sun, The Daily Telegraph, The Courier Mail, The Advertiser and Sunday Times newspapers on 8 January which can be redeemed at Liquorland, 1st Choice or Vintage Cellars outlets.

Crucially, the free beer promotion is only for one voucher per person. VB is also a partner in the responsible drinking ‘Know When To Declare’ campaign along with Cricket Australia, Carlton & United Breweries, Diageo and the Nine Network. The program will include a national TV campaign, on-ground activities and a larger presence at community cricket clubs.

In other VB news, the brand has also launched a new Facebook application designed to help people call out their friends for their superficial behaviour. The application allows users to stage an intervention on friends guilty of common superficial behaviours exhibited through their Facebook profile photo.

They can tag their friends Facebook photos with descriptions like ‘Mirror Jockey’, the ‘Jetsetter’, the ‘Gratuitous Gaze’ and the ‘Trout Pout’, and can lead to a VB Profile Intervention for the friend with VB's ‘Psychoventionist’ Steven W. Proust.
