Uber's Australian marketing chief just switched to fintech Zip

Fintech Zip Co Limited has appointed Uber’s director of marketing APAC, Steve Brennen, as chief customer officer.

The ASX-listed credit card disrupter also hired Patrick Collins, former SVP product and engineering at Moovweb, as chief product officer. 

Brennen has two decades of sales, marketing and management experience awith global challenger brands including eBay, PayPal and Virgin. 

He is also chair of the Australian Alliance for Data Leadership  and The Association for Data-driven Marketing and Advertising (ADMA).

“Zip is a dynamic challenger brand with tremendous opportunity to disrupt the market and change the way we pay," Brennen  says.

"As we continue to innovate, I believe we have a unique opportunity to enable millions of consumers and retail partners to make better payment decisions.” 

Patrick Collins is a technology leader with 12 years’ experience in product development in Silicon Valley. He joins Zip from San Francisco based Moovweb. 

Collins moved to San Francisco in 2008 when he was founder and CEO of venture-backed technology startup, 5th Finger. Before that he was a founding technical member of Fairfax Digital, where he launched Domain, Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Financial Review. 

Zip recently entered an agreement to acquire global instalment technology platform PartPay and SME lender Spotcap. 

Zip co-founder and CEO, Larry Diamond, sasy the compamny has ambitious plans ahead for both product and marketing.

"For that we need seasoned, evangelical leaders who can co-found the next chapter in our book," he says. 

"Our mission is to disrupt the broken credit card industry with a payments solution that meets the demanding needs of our users - in Steve and Patrick, we have found two exceptional leaders who will help us achieve that goal.”

In the year to June, reported a 138% jump in revenue to $84.2 million and 80% more customers at 1.3 million.
