Tiffany & Co has taken out print ads urging Prime Minister Scott Morrison to take action on climate change.

The jewellery company, which mines for diamonds, printed full-page ads across the weekend in Nine’s The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age acknowledging Australians battling the bushfires, and addressing the prime minister directly.

“Dear Prime Minister Morrison, As the brave people of Australia continue to battle bushfires that are devastating communities and wildlife, now is the time for bold and decisive action,” the ad states.

“The disaster of climate change is too real, and the threat to our planet and to our children is too great.”

Glen Schlehuber, Tiffany & Co’s vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand says the company has also donated to support firefighters and wildlife recovery.

“We ran this message today in two of Australia’s largest newspapers as an open letter to our Prime Minister,” Schlehuber says.

“I feel very proud to work for an organisation who is willing to stand up and take action on climate change.”
