Thinkerbell has been appointed to manage Melbourne Racing Club’s (MRC) media planning and buying following a competitive pitch.

Thinkerbell Media will work closely with The Royals, MRC’s long-standing creative agency of record, and other agency partners.

Vizeum has been the incumbent media agency on the account since 2015 when it picked up MRC and Racing Victoria. Racing Victoria has since shifted to Bohemia.

This is the first media account win for Thinkerbell since it opened its doors more than a year ago.

It also follows the appointment of former OMD Melbourne managing director Margie Reid.

MRC chief commercial officer Peta Webster says Thinkerbell's approach to media is "strategically succint" and provides a "future focused product".

“What every client wants is not only innovation, but also someone we can trust emphatically to do the right thing. Margie and her team radiate integrity and passion," she says.

Reid adds: “MRC is an incredibly innovative business and we look forward to working with the team to grow their entertainment offering. It's fantastic to be working with MRC as it’s media agency and we are excited to provide a healthy dose of measured magic.”

Earlier this year, Reid and co-founder Adam Ferrier told AdNews the agency would pitch for media accounts, but didn't want to be viewed as a "full-service agency" or just a media buying portal.

The appointment takes effect this month.
