McCann Melbourne appoints executive director from GPY&R

McCann Melbourne has appointed Anita Deutsch-Burley as its new executive director to lead work on the L'Oreal, Metro, Bendigo, Vic Gambling, Worksafe, City of Melbourne and Government business.

Deutsch-Burley joins from GPY&R Melbourne where she was most recently group account director and replaces Jaclyn Currie who left the Melbourne office to work at McCann New York as SVP executive account director on the L’Oreal Paris account.

McCann MD Adrian Mills said: “We’ve been patiently trying to find the right replacement for the role Jack left to take up her position in New York.

“In Anita we have a stand-out talent who brings with her a strong digital, direct and brand building background alongside some significant client-side experience.”

Carat's on the BBQ

Carat has been appointed to manage all media for Australian retailer Barbeques Galore, following a closed pitch.

As the current media agency of retail partner, Super A-Mart, the appointment expands Carat’s existing relationship with the BBQSAM group. The account will be managed out of Carat’s Brisbane office, and includes media for all metro-based stores nationally, representing more than $5million in billings.

The agreement commences officially on September 1, 2015.

OMA partners with police for National Missing Persons Week

The Outdoor Media Association has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Austral Federal Police to roll out the 2015 National Missing Persons Week campaign across outdoor.

The campaign will run from 2-8 August to raise awareness about the impact of missing persons casesw and to profile long-term missing persons.

The partnership will see OMA members across the country donating advertising space and production costs to provide national campaign coverage.

The OMA said it was inspired by sister organisation, the Outdoor Advertised Association of America (OAAA), which runs the National Billboard Initiative, to reach the public with information about fugitives, missing persons and safety issues. Its use of digital inventory means it also has the capacity to instantly update messages.

OMA CEO Charmaine Moldrich said: “We hope the campaign will assist in finding these people, and, importantly, raise awareness for all missing person cases.”

ASTRA announces line-up for Women in TV

Comedian Magda Szubanski, BBC world news presenter Yalda Hakim and movie critic Margaret Pomeranz have been announced on the line up for ASTRA's Women in TV breakfast event.

The event is held prior to the ASTRA conference or September 9 at The Share Event Centre in Sydney and will see the speakers sharing stories from their diverse careers.

Folau named Rugby ambassador

NSW Waratahs and Australian Wallabies champion Israel Folau has been named official sports ambassador Foxtel’s coverage of Rugby Union.

The network is currently preparing to broadcast the 2015 Bledisloe Cup and the Rugby Championships, which will air live and with no ad-breaks on Fox Sports, August 8. Foxtel will also air the 2015 Rugby World Cup, September 19.

MicroChannel acquires Engage Digital

Business tech firm MicroChannel has acquired marketing technology and automation specialists Engage Digital Services. Founded in 2009 by two partners in Sydney – Jeff Clark and Antony Dutton - Engage Digital sells cloud-based marketing automation technology in the Asia Pacific.

“Being part of the MicroChannel group allows us to fulfil our vision of being a leading provider of marketing technology solutions across Asia Pacific,” said Dutton.
