The more things change, the more they stay the same with The Block once again taking out the TV ratings penthouse. But Network Ten's The Bachelor managed to ride its best numbers for the year into a top ten slot for the evening.

The Block pulled in 1.137 million viewers for the night, with the next best non-news program Network Seven's The Force, attracting 938,000 pairs of eyeballs.

The Bachelor, while pulling strong numbers in key demographics had not been able to crack the broader market but last night's episode was its highest rating of the season, pulling in 895,000 viewers in metro areas, peaking at 1.16 million.

It took out top spot in the 16-39 markets, but falling behind The Block in the 18-49 and 25-54 segments.

It helped Network Ten take out a 20.5% share for the night.

However, perhaps the most interesting story of the night is how Network Seven's digital channels helped it to an overall win over Nine.

Despite holding The Block trump-card, Nine was unable to parlay this into a win for the evening as 7Two and 7Mate helped Seven over the line.

On a main-channel basis, Nine won the night with a 20.7% share to Seven's 20.5%. However when counting the digital channels, Seven took the night with a 30.8% share to Nine's 28.5% share.

While ABC2 dominated the charts on the multi-channel front, 7Two's A Touch of Frost took out top spot with 361,000 viewers. A repeat of Rosemary and Thyme also pulled good numbers for 7Two, bringing in an extra 298,000 viewers.

However the best multi-channel program Nine could muster was a repeat of The Big Bang Theory, which came in at number 14.
