Ten is claiming more than a million downloads for its streaming tenplay app which launched just under a year ago.

The broadcaster saw a huge jump in downloads during its coverage of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with 100,000 downloads during an 11-day period.

Ten said downloads of the app had been driven by strong demand for catch up TV as well as live events such as the Sochi Winter Olympics and its Formula 1 broadcasts.

The number of video views of Ten content has jumped by more than 56% since the launch of the app, while the number of page views for the broadcaster has lifted by more than 60%.

“Reaching one million downloads of the mobile app is an incredible landmark for us,” Ten's chief digital officer Rebekah Horne said.

“The app has been a fantastic success since its launch and is a great demonstration of our strategy to bring Network Ten's content to people anywhere, any time on any device.”

While Ten is promoting the number of downloads for the app, which are in addition to installations on smart TVs and Xbox, it has not revealed the numbers of active users.
