Salesforce, customer experience agency Datarati and the University of News South Wales (UNSW) have hosted Australia's first Marketing Cloud Boot Camp for graduates.

The boot camp was designed to provide students with job-ready skills to support Salesforce’s partner ecosystem in identifying and hiring new talent and help close the skills gap in the industry.

"This boot camp is an example of industry action that's needed to ensure Australian graduates are globally competitive and skilled for the demands and opportunities of marketing during the Fourth Industrial Revolution," Datarati chairman Will Scully-Power says.

“According to the World Economic Forum, by 2020, one-third of in-demand skills will be new, which highlights the need for greater partnership between education institutions and industry. We look forward to continuing to partner with educators to ensure graduates have an opportunity to learn and understand the integral role marketers have in shaping customer experiences."

The two-week boot camp, taught by Salesforce and Datarati experts, provides 30 business, marketing, computer science and advertising graduates with an intensive and practical Salesforce customer experience consulting training. All students will also receive the Email Specialist Certification.

The boot camp included workshops on strategy building and customer experience vision development, customer journey mapping, campaign prioritisation as well as the technical skills necessary for the Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud.

Salesforce APAC vice president, partners, alliances and sales channels Charles Woodall says as the company's ecosystem of partners and customers continue to grow, there has become an increasing demand for graduates with Salesforce skills.

"Salesforce will continue to invest in programs like the Marketing Cloud Boot Camp to provide a solid pipeline of talent for our partners and customers and to provide students with the skills needed to succeed in the modern economy," Woodall says.

As a result of the boot camp, six graduates have been offered employment in Datarati’s Sydney office.

Salesforce and Datarati plan to rollout the Marketing Cloud Boot Camps at RMIT University and East Point College of Engineering in Bangalore India in 2019.
