Former MCN national sales director Shae Bonney has been appointed to the role of general manager - sales for QMS' rapidly expanding sports sales, assets and rights division QMS Sport.

Bonney will also be joined by Kurt Allison as Brisbane sales manager and Clara Martello to the newly created role of research and insights specialist.

Bonney, who managed the sales assets for Network Ten, Foxtel and Fox Sports, exited MCN last year after nearly 20 years with the business, following the end of the sales house arrangement with Ten.

In the role, he will take on responsibility for continuing to grow QMS Sport’s presence and relevance in market, using his experience and strong agency relationships to lead growth nationally.

“I am really excited to join the QMS Sport team, who continue to develop an exciting portfolio of assets across Australia’s major sporting codes, teams and venues," Bonney said.

"Add to this, their vision and investment in digital technology from the field to the screen which is positioning QMS Sport well into the future.”

Allison joins QMS Sport from media agency Ikon and prior to that Channel Nine Brisbane, whilst Martello who will be responsible for driving accountability and new data initiatives, previously leading strategy at Initiative Melbourne.

According to QMS CEO Mark Pejic, the roles will enhance client service capabilities, data and measurement initiatives, drive further revenue growth and "foster greater awareness" of the QMS Sport value proposition to advertisers and key stakeholders.

“We are bolstered by the continued investment QMS is committing to the expansion of the QMS Sport business both here and internationally. These senior appointments are testament to the future growth of the Sport business and enables us to deliver on our promise to connect brands to millions of highly engaged fans," Pejic said.

"In the current media landscape of content increasingly viewed in time shift and on demand, sport remains the last genre to be viewed by the majority in real time. Highly engaging and brand safe, sport delivers the perfect environment for clients to effectively communicate to their audiences.”

The former Former IPG Mediabrands Melbourne chairman quietly resurfaced at QMS Sport last year as it continues to make a play for the lucrative in-stadium advertising sector, competing with growing sports marketing agencies, including Dentsu Aegis Network-owned MKTG, which has also made a significant investment into the sector this in 2018.

Late last year QMS revealed that it would be splitting out its business into three core segments, QMS Media, QMS Sport and Mediaworks as part of a "strategic realignment" designed to strengthen its market position.
